Dental implants are an effective and permanent treatment option for those who are missing one or more teeth. Acting as the root and crown of the tooth, dental implants will restore stability, aesthetics, strength, and function to your smile. Implants are surgically placed into the jawbone by one of our dentists and, after a healing period of several months, an implant restoration (crown, bridge, or denture) will be attached to the implant. Once complete, a dental implant will look and feel like a natural tooth and provide you with a radiant, healthy, and functional smile.
Dental implants can:
- Replace one or more missing teeth
- Improve your ability to chew, eat, and speak normally
- Resolve problems with the bite or joint pain
- Prevent facial tissues from sagging
- Add support, security, and comfort to a bridge or partial
- Enhance and complete your smile

After your dental implant has been surgically placed, remember to rest for the next two to three days. This will help your body heal as well as reduce bleeding. Drink plenty of fluids but avoid drinks that are too cold. You can apply an ice pack to your face in 20 minute intervals during the two days following your implant procedure in order to feel more comfortable. Slight bleeding during these two days is not uncommon. When you eat, avoid chewing on the surgical area. If you received upper arch implants, do not blow your nose for at least two weeks after the surgery. Contact our office if you have any questions or concerns about your recovery.
